Working Fire On Louis Bailey Road

January 25 - On Monday morning Stations 5, 1, 2, 59 and 19 were alerted to a working house fire behind 37665 Louis Bailey Road. Engine 51 responded to the call with 5 personnel. Upon arrival in the area a citizen flagged them down and pointed them to the driveway. Engine 51 dropped a line and extended a handline to find a fully involved two story house. The house was located several hundred yards behind the residence where the Engine was located.

The crew began an attack on the fire after extending the handline. Engine 53 supplied Engine 51 and the crew assisted Engine 51's crew. Engine 14 was next to arrive and pulled into a driveway with better access to the house. Several lines were pulled from Engine 14 and crews went to work extinguishing the fire.

Crews battled heavy flames for an extended period of time before bringing the fire under control. Crews from Engine 24, Truck 1, Squad 5 and Engine 21 worked together to control the blaze. Engine 74 was requested to respond from Station 1 for an additional tanker. Engine 91 responded while also going to a fill in. A tanker shuttle was ran from the scene to Station 5. Extensive overhaul was conducted by all crews until all the hot spots were extinguished.

The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire. More pictures will follow.



Live Fire Training

January 24 - On Sunday morning several members came out to participate in a live fire burn at an acquired structure in Bushwood. Members had been preparing the house for the past week for the burn. Crews from Companies 1, 2, and 7 also participated in the drill.

After doing some final prepration and set up, the first burn was started around 8:00 a.m. There were six total crews between the 4 departments participating. Crews made it though the structure 3 times in the 8 rooms that were burned.

Motor Vehicle Accident On Maddox Road

January 17 - On Sunday evening Stations 5, 59, 19 and the medic were alerted to a motor vehicle accident on Maddox Road in the area of Manor Road. The accident was reported to be head on with unknown injuries. Units arrived on the scene and located two vehicles in the road with one patient still in one vehicle.

Chief 5 established the Maddox Command. Squad 5 arrived and positioned between the two vehicles. Chief 5A held the operations and had the crew pull tools and pop a door on the vehicle with the patient inside. Once the patient was extricated, the crew assisted EMS with loading them into t ... Kitchen Fire During Fill In For Leonardtown

January 11 - On Monday morning while members were filling in for Company 1 fireboard dispatched a house fire at 22758 Lawrence Avenue. This address was located almost directly across from Fire Station 1. Engine 51 along with Chief 5A responded and arrived on the scene locating a duplex with a fire in the kitchen.

Chief 5A established the command until Chief 1A arrived. The crew pulled a line and entered the structure making a quick knock. Farm Equipment Fire In Bushwood

January 6 - At 1134 hours on Wednesday, Station 5 was alerted to a vehicle fire on Bushwood Wharf Road in the area of Quade's Store. Fireboard advised a combine was on fire in a field. Brush 5 and Engine 53 responded to the call. Once Brush 5 arrived they located a fully involved combine in the middle of a field off Chickahominy Lane.

There was no access for the engine to get to the fire. Brush 5 went out in the field and the crew began to extinguish the fire. Personnel hand jacked hose from Engine 53 out to the brush truck to suppy water.
