Fire Reported Out In Colton's Point

Seventh District Volunteers, October 28

Tuesday night Company 5 was alerted to a fire reported out on Dave Bailey Road in Colton's Point. Engine 52, 51 and Tanker 5 all responded to the call with 10 volunteers. Upon arrival, Engine 52 located a fire that had been extinguished on the rear of the house. The crew pulled the siding from the house and checked for further extension. Units Respond To Field Fire

On Tuesday afternoon as units returned to quarters from an odor of smoke in a residence in Mechanicsville, the station was alerted to a brush fire on Wellington Lane. Brush 5, Brush 5A and Tanker 5 responded just after dispatch. Units arrived and located abut an acre of a large field on fire. Both brush units used their booster lines and extinguished the fire. Engine Stands By At 5K In Colton's Point

On Sunday morning a crew on Engine 52 stood by for the third annual Colton's Point Costume Capers 5k walk/run. The event was held in support of the Chopticon High School band. The race begins at St. Clement's Island Museum and proceeds up Colton Point Road to Waterloo Circle. It loops back and ended on the water front at the state pier. Members Conduct Live Fire Training In Avenue

On Saturday morning 18 volunteers participated in a live fire training exercise at an acquired structure on Oakley Road in Avenue. The homeowners contacted the department and requested the house be burned down in preparation for a new home on the property. Permits were obtained and members prepared the house for the burn.

Reported Boat On Fire At Marina In Colton's Point

On Friday morning at 0940 hours, Stations 5, 1, 2, 7, Truck 1, Truck 7, Boat 5, Companies 59 and 19 were alerted to Cather Marine on Palmer Road for a boat on fire at a marina. Boat 6 and Charles Boat 6 were also added to the assignment. Units responded and were advised that a boat was on fire in the water at the marina with a burn patient.

Fire Prevention At Dynard Elementary School

On Friday October 10, 2014 several volunteers attended fire prevention at Dynard Elementary School. Volunteers staffed Engine 51, Squad 5 and Tanker 5 to take to the school. As units arrived a fire drill was conducted. Once students were settled back in school a large assembly was held in the cafeteria. House Fire In Chaptico

Fire Chief J.A. Nelson, October 05

Sunday morning at 0922 hours, Stations 5, 2, 1, Charles 14, 59 and 29 were alerted to a reported house fire on Mill Point Road in Chaptico. Chief 5 and Engine 52 responded a short time after dispatch. Fireboard advised the caller had smoke inside the house.
