Head On Crash In Bushwood

July 9 - Friday night at 2118 hours, Stations 5, 59, 19 and ALS were alerted to a motor vehicle accident on Colton Point Road in the area of Capt. Sam's Store. Responding units were advised of a two vehicle crash with up to three injuries. Chief 5 arrived on the scene and found a head on accident and established the command.

Squad 5 was next to arrive and set up lights and began patient care. A total of three patients were injured. Three of the four ambulances responding were held on the assignment and the medic units was cancelled. All three patients were loaded into the ambulances and transported to St. Mary's Hospital.

After the patients were transported, command was terminated and crews remained on the scene for a short time to provide lighting and clear the roadway. Once the vehicles were removed units retuned to quarters at 2215 hours.



Two Mechanicsville Fires In Four Hours

July 5 - Early Saturday morning at 0137 hours, Station 5 was alerted to Waterview Drive in Golden Beach for Water Supply 5 on a working house fire assignment. Boat 5 was already out on a boat incident in Company 6's area. Water Supply 5 responded and set up draft at the Golden Beach Boat Ramp. Units from Mechanicsville and Hughesville arrived on the scene with a single story house with heavy fire conditions.

Water Supply 5 laid a 5" supply line from Engine 24 to the river to supply the fire scene. Once the water supply was established the crew assisted with overhaul operations. At 0310 ho ... (Full Story)

Auto Fire On Colton Point Road

June 26 - On Wednesday June 23, 2010, Station 5 was alerted to a vehicle fire in the area of Holy Angels Church on Colton Point Road in Avenue. Engine 51 responded to the scene and located a vehicle fully involved upon arrival.

Egnine 51's crew pulled a line and extinguished the fire. The Sheriff's Office Investigated the incident because the vehicle was in motion at the time it caught fire. Once the vehicle was removed from the roadway Engine 51 returned to service.

Swim Across The Potomac

May 27 - On Wednesday afternoon, students from the Heights School in Potomac, Maryland held their annual swim from Colton's Point to St. Clement's Island. This event is held every year for the sophomores to become seniors.

This year 45 swimmers jumped in the Potomac and attempted the swim to the Island. A total of about 25 students made the full swim without being picked up by a rescue boat.

Congratulations to the students on another successful swim and thank you to Boat 6 and Raft 7 for their assistance with the event.

Training With Company 2

May 26 - On Saturday May 22nd members participated in a burn drill with Mechanicsville. The acquired structure was located on the water and Boat 5 was utilized.

A 3" line was ran up to the house and supplied two attack lines. Once the boat was set up a crew was able to participate in the live fire training.

Once all of the rooms were burned inside, the house was let go. We would like to thank the members of Station 2 for the invite to the burn.
