Kitchen Fire On Mattingly Road

February 17 - Early Wednesday morning, Stations 5, 1, 2, and 59 were alerted to a house fire on Mattingly Road in Abell. Fireboard advised units responding the caller had an oven fire in the residence. Chief 5 arrived on the scene and found a single story house with smoke coming from the open front door.

Engine 54 arrived and the crew went to the house. Burning food was located on the stove and the fire was put out. Command held the assignment with Company 5 and Company 59. Crews checked for extension and set up a fan for ventilation.

Units returned to quarters within an hour.



Water Supply And Tanker To Bay District For House Fire

February 9 - Early Tuesday morning Water Supply 5 was alerted mutual aid to Company 3 for a working structure fire in Park Hall. Water Supply 5 responded shortly after dispatch with four personnel. Units from Bay District arrived and located a two story house with heavy fire showing. Chief 3 established the command. Water Supply 5 was sent to Willows Road to meet Water Supply Officer 3 to set up a fill site for a tanker shuttle.

Leonardtown Chimney Fire

February 8 - On Monday morning at 0450 hours, Staion 5 was alerted mutual aid to Station 1 for a Chimney fire located on Maypole Road in Leonardtown. Engine 54 responded with 4 while Engine 53 responded with 3. Chief 1 arrived on the scene and located at two story house with nothing evident.

After investigation, smoke was located on the second floor with fire in the walls. Due to icy conditions, first responding apparatus could not make it up the driveway to the scene. Another Snow Storm Hits The Area

February 6 - On Friday night another big snow storm hit the area dumping over a foot of snow in many areas in St. Mary's County. Fortunately periods of rain held the snow totals down and made things a bit easier compared to areas North.

The Station ran a few calls and crews assisted plow crews with clearing trees from the roadway. Some of the pictures from the storm can be seen below.

Working Fire On Louis Bailey Road

January 25 - On Monday morning Stations 5, 1, 2, 59 and 19 were alerted to a working house fire behind 37665 Louis Bailey Road. Engine 51 responded to the call with 5 personnel. Upon arrival in the area a citizen flagged them down and pointed them to the driveway. Engine 51 dropped a line and extended a handline to find a fully involved two story house. The house was located several hundred yards behind the residence where the Engine was located.

The crew began an attack on the fire after extending the handline. Engine 53 supplied Engine 51 and the crew assisted Engine 51's crew. Engine 14 ... (Full Story)
