National Weather Service Confirms EF-1 Tornado

The National Weather Service confirmed today that the damage during yesterdays storm was caused by a EF-1 Tornado. National Weather Service personnel came to the area and were assisted by the department in conducting a survey of the damage. There were two tornadoes both originating in Charles County. The first had a 2.1 mile path in the Morgantown community.

Boat Pulls Two From Wicomico After Canoe Overturns

Fire Chief J.A. Nelson, June 28

On Sunday at 1132 hours, Station 5, Boat 5, Charles Boat 6, and EMS Stations 59 and 19 were alerted to a water rescue in the Wicomico River off Bushwood Wharf. Units responded and were advised a canoe overturned and two subjects were in the water. Chief 5 arrived on scene and established the command. The subjects could be seen hanging onto the canoe about 300 yards off shore.

Suspected Tornado Hits Maddox And Clements Area

On Saturday evening as crews were preparing to go to the Price of Freedom Music Festival, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning St. Mary's County. Company 5 was then alerted for Boat 5 for people in the water in Neal Sound in Charles County. Units Run House Fire After Lightning Strike

7th District Volunteer's, June 21

As units were clearing the mass casualty incident in Chaptico, a house fire was dispatched on Banerjee Court in Avenue. As units responded they were advised that the house was hit by lightning and was charged with smoke. Engine 51 arrived and dropped a line at the end of the driveway. Upon arrival they located a single story house with smoke showing.

Mass Casualty Incident From Tent Collapse In Chaptico

7th District Volunteer's, June 20

On Saturday evening as storms were hitting the area, Station 5, EMS Stations 59 and 29 were alerted to a tent collapse on Lower Brambley Lane in Chaptico. Chief 5 and Squad 5 responded just after dispatch and further information was obtained that 30-50 people were under a tent at a wedding party and the tent collapsed from the high winds. Engine 52 Responds On Chaptico Accident

Thursday evening while returning from the fill in at Waldorf Fire Station 3, a personal injury accident was dispatched on Mechanicsville Road at Yowaiski Mill Rd. Initial reports were of a single truck off the road and head on into a tree. The assignment included Company 2, 29, 59 and SMALS. Engine Fills In At Waldorf VFD Station 3

Captain T.J. Faunce, June 18

On Thursday the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, held the funeral for past Deputy EMS Chief Vernon Monday. Engine 52 transferred to Waldorf Fire Station 3 for the day and arrived at 0900 hours. Along with Engine 52, Hollywood VFD Truck 7 also was assigned to Station 3 to fill in. Both crews responded on several incidents throughout the day.
