| On Thursday evening the storms that had been talked about for several days approached the area. As soon as the storm started coming through, the trees began to come down. Company 5's first incident was for a tree down on Whites Neck Road in Bushwood.
A short time later the station received a call of a tree on a house in Colton's Point. Crews responded to the area and located three houses with major structural damage from trees falling onto the roofs. Crews secured the power to each house affected and checked the damage.
Units cleared several trees from the roadways and marked down power lines with flares and caution tape. In all, units handled 14 incidents that included trees down, trees on homes and wires down.
Water Supply 5 responded on a shed fire in Mechanicsville but was cancelled prior to arrival. Engine 54 also went to Leonardtown to cover while members paid their respect to Lifetime Member Teddy Wathen who passed away. |
