On March 5, 2017 at 2212 hours, Rescue Squad 5 and Water Supply 5 were alerted mutual aid to Company 2 for a garage fire on Laurel Grove Road in Mechanicsville. Squad 5 responded with 5 and Water Supply responded with 3 volunteers. Chief 2B arrived on scene to find a single story auto repair garage fully involved. Units from Company 2 and surrounding companies arrived and began an attack on the fire. Squad 5 initially went to RIT on side A until the fire was knocked down. Squad 5 then assisted with opening up on side B of the building. Water Supply 5 was sent to Fowler Industrial Park for water supply. Squad 5 operated on scene for approximately an hour before returning to quarters.
