At 1215 hours Stations 5, 1, 2, 7, Charles 2 and EMS 59 and 19 were alerted to a structure fire on Coles Adventure Lane in Clements. Fireboard received reports of a barn and field fire threatening other structures. Lieutenant 5 arrived on the scene and located a large field and woods fire but the barn was not yet involved. Units arrived on the scene and protected the buildings and began working to extinguish the fire in the field and the surrounding woods. Tankers were placed in different areas along the field and were utilized for extinguishing the fire and to fill brush units. Chief 5 held the Clements Command. Three additional brush units were requested to the scene. The fire began from a chain that broke on a hay baler. The quick action of the farmer working the field prevented the fire from being much worse. The burning straw was dumped into a pond next to the field saving property and farm equipment.

Engine 23 laid a supply line from Engine 51 to a pond and established a draft. Engine 51 supplied the tankers at the scene. Charles Squad 2 set up at the scene for rehab. Both Ambulance 598 and 197 stood by during the incident.
