At 0055 hours, Engine 5, 2, 7, Tankers 5, 1, 2, Truck 1, Truck 7, Charles Squad 2 along with EMS Companies 59 and 19 were alerted to a garage fire on Arnold Road in Avenue. Chief 5 responded and upon arrival located a detached 40' X 40' garage with attached horse stables fully involved. Chief 5 established the command. Engine 52 dropped a supply line at Arnold Road and pulled 1.75" attack lines to the structure.

Tanker 51 picked up Engine 52's line and was also supplied by Tanker 5. Truck 1 and Tanker 14 arrived next and assisted with fire attack and ventilation. Engine 23 also sent their crew to the scene to assist with extinguishing the fire. The fire was brought under control with extensive mop up and overhaul. All other apparatus was held out on Hatchet Thicket Road and the personnel proceeded to the scene to assist.

Crews worked to overhaul the structure for approximately an hour until all hot spots had been extinguished. Once the fire was out the assignment was scaled back to Stations 5, 1, 2 and EMS 59. SMECO responded to the scene to ensure the power to the structure was secured. There were no animals in the garage or stables at the time of the fire.
