On Wednesday evening at 2055 hours Station 5, Squad 5, Squad 1, EMS 59 and 19 were alerted to a motor vehicle accident on Abell Road near Gerards Cove Road. Communications advised responding units that a single vehicle hit a pole with entrapment. Units arrived finding a single patient heavily trapped in the vehicle. Squad 5, Tanker 51 and Squad 1 operated. Once the patient was extricated they were placed in Ambulance 598 for care prior to being placed in the helicopter. The patient was flown by Trooper 7 to PG Trauma Center. Engine 51 handled the landing site for the Trooper. Squad 5 remained on the scene for a short time to assist the Sheriff's Office.
