| On Sunday April 15, 2011 at 1400 hours members of the department and auxiliary welcomed families of our deceased members. Over the past several years a committee has been working out a memorial that was constructed outside of our building.
The memorial honors the charter members of the department and recognizes all of the deceased members. President Nelson was the master of ceremonies for the event. The memorial dedication began with an opening prayer and the pledge of allegiance by Chaplin John H. Nelson. The history of the department was then read by Secretary Anthony Hammett and Auxiliary President Barbara Nelson. After the history Vice President Mike Huseman read the first minutes of the department.
Members and guests then proceeded outside for the unveiling of the memorial. Three of our charter members that were able to attend unveiled the memorial for its official dedication.
Once the memorial was dedicated Chief John A. Nelson read the names of each member of both the department and auxiliary who have passed away over the years. The families of each of these members received a flower to place in our bronze fire boot and they were presented with a medallion coin that was designed with a picture of our memorial on the coin. Auxiliary Chaplain Millie Huseman then provided some closing remarks and a closing prayer.
Once the ceremony ended guests enjoyed a light meal prepared by the Auxiliary. We hope everyone enjoyed the memorial dedication and we thank you for being a part of this special event. |
