On Thursday afternoon at 1637 hours Water Supply 5 was alerted to assist on a large brush fire off Demko Road in St. James. Water Supply 5 responded to set up a fill site for tankers at St. Mary's College.
Approximately an hour after the Water Supply was alerted to the scene an "All Call" was alerted for manpower along with UTV's. MSU 5 and UTV 5 responded to the scene with three additional personnel.
The fire was hard to contain due to the terrain of the woods. Units from every department in the county along with many Charles and Calvert County units responded to the scene.
Crews worked at the scene for approximately 6 hours before returning to quarters.
