At 1044 hours on Sunday morning, Stations 5, 1, 2, 59 and 19 were alerted to a vehicle fire next to a barn on Oakland Hall Road in Avenue. Chief 5 arrived on the scene shortly after dispatch with a vehicle fully involved with extension into the barn. Engine 54 arrived and the crew pulled a line to the burning vehicle.
Engine 51 supplied Engine 54 and 51's crew opened up the barn and assisted with extinguishing the fire. Tanker 5 and Ambulance 599 were held in staging on Olen Mattingly Road.
Squad 5 and Water Supply 5's crew assisted with setting up fans for smoke removal from the barn. Once the fire was out and the barn was checked, the assignment was held with Company 5 units only.
The vehicle was in motion at the time the fire began in the engine compartment. The Sheriff's Office responded to take a report of the incident. Units returned to quarters within an hour.
