Working Fire On Louis Bailey Road
By: Fire Chief J.A. Nelson
Date: January 25, 2010
On Monday morning Stations 5, 1, 2, 59 and 19 were alerted to a working house fire behind 37665 Louis Bailey Road. Engine 51 responded to the call with 5 personnel. Upon arrival in the area a citizen flagged them down and pointed them to the driveway. Engine 51 dropped a line and extended a handline to find a fully involved two story house. The house was located several hundred yards behind the residence where the Engine was located.
The crew began an attack on the fire after extending the handline. Engine 53 supplied Engine 51 and the crew assisted Engine 51's crew. Engine 14 was next to arrive and pulled into a driveway with better access to the house. Several lines were pulled from Engine 14 and crews went to work extinguishing the fire.
Crews battled heavy flames for an extended period of time before bringing the fire under control. Crews from Engine 24, Truck 1, Squad 5 and Engine 21 worked together to control the blaze. Engine 74 was requested to respond from Station 1 for an additional tanker. Engine 91 responded while also going to a fill in. A tanker shuttle was ran from the scene to Station 5. Extensive overhaul was conducted by all crews until all the hot spots were extinguished.
The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire. More pictures will follow.
