Water Supply And Tanker To Bay District For House Fire

By: Fire Chief J.A. Nelson
Date: February 09, 2010

Early Tuesday morning Water Supply 5 was alerted mutual aid to Company 3 for a working structure fire in Park Hall. Water Supply 5 responded shortly after dispatch with four personnel. Units from Bay District arrived and located a two story house with heavy fire showing. Chief 3 established the command. Water Supply 5 was sent to Willows Road to meet Water Supply Officer 3 to set up a fill site for a tanker shuttle.

Three additional companies were added for tankers and after the heavy fire couldn't easily be contained, three more tankers were added. This second round of tankers brought Engine 53 to the scene.

Engine 53 dropped off the crew and began shuttling water to the scene. Several loads of water were shuttled. After about two hours of battling the fire, it was brought under control. Ladder pipe operations were utilized due to the conditions of the house.

Once all the fire was brought under control, units were released and Engine 53 and Water Supply 5 returned to quarters. Every department in St. Mary's County had a unit operating at the scene.
