Early Wednesday morning, Stations 5, 1, 2, and 59 were alerted to a house fire on Mattingly Road in Abell. Fireboard advised units responding the caller had an oven fire in the residence. Chief 5 arrived on the scene and found a single story house with smoke coming from the open front door.

Engine 54 arrived and the crew went to the house. Burning food was located on the stove and the fire was put out. Command held the assignment with Company 5 and Company 59. Crews checked for extension and set up a fan for ventilation.

Units returned to quarters within an hour.
