On Thursday at 1644 hours Company 5 was alerted to Blake Creek Road in Valley Lee for a woods fire. Brush 5 along with UTV5 and Water Supply 5 made the run with a total of 6 Volunteers. Upon arrival the UTV was placed immediatley into service assisting with knocking the fire and gaining access to the rear portion of the incident. A crew from the Water Supply was sent to staff Brush 5 and made entry into the woods shortly after. It wasn't long before both Charles and Calvert counties were called to assist with the efforts. Crews worked around a bulldozer that was clearing a path for brush units. Crews worked in the high temperatures efficiently to quickly place the fire under control. This was the third fire in as many weeks to require units from throughout the county to contain. Both units operated for over 3 hours, before returning to quarters.
