On Sunday April 10, 2011 several members headed to Station 3 to participate in a rural water supply drill. Units from most of the departments in the county attended the drill with different types of apparatus.

A brief overview was given of the drill and then units headed to Sanners Lane to the ponds for the drill. Water Supply 5 set up a fill site at one location along the pond. The crew laid out a section of 5" hose that led to a manifold with four 3" hoses and one 4" hose to fill tankers. Engine 21 from Mechanicsville also set up draft at the pond.

A dump site with folding tanks was set up at another location. The tankers would dump their water and then fill up at either Water Supply 5 or Engine 21. The goal of the drill was to keep a constant water flow of a master stream with the tanker shuttle operation. This simulates water flowing at a fire scene.

After a couple of hours of the shuttle being in operation the drill was concluded. This was a great opportunity for all of the county departments to take part in the rural water supply exercise.
