On Thursday morning a crew with Squad 5 went to Chopticon High School to participate in a mock vehicle accident demonstration. A two vehicle accident was simulated for the Seniors at the school with the upcoming prom to remind them of the dangers of drinking and driving.

The incident had four students that played the roles of victims. There were two that had to be extricated from the vehicles, one that died from the accident and one that was a drinking and driving and was arrested by the Sheriff's Office at the scene.

The crews from Rescue Engine 22 and Squad 5 both extricated patients from the vehicles. The patients were then turned over the EMS personnel for transport.

We would like to thank the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department for the invitation to participate in this event. We hope that the message was clear not to drink and drive. We hope all of the students have a fun and safe prom.
