On Sunday morning members loaded up on the apparatus and headed to Solomon's Island for the annual Southern Maryland Firemen's Assocition parade. Hours of cleaning had been put into the units in the weeks leading up to the parade.

After arriving at Solomons the units were lined up and the parade began shortly after 1 p.m. Units in the parade included Future Fire Prevention Queen Kylee Mattingly, Utility 5, Gator 5, Command 5, Brush 5, MSU 5, Boat 5, Water Supply 5, Engine 53 and Squad 5.

The department brought home two trophies from the day. The awards were for best appearing fire truck 25 years or older and still in service and a judges award for Future Fire Prevention Queen.

The members decided to take Engine 53 because it is going up for sale with the purchase of the new tanker and this will be the last parade it will go to with the department. It proved to still have what it takes to win an award.
