On Friday morning members gathered at Station 5 to conduct a rescue drill. After a recent incident where a subject had to be removed from the water and needing to have stabilization and patient care administered, crews took the opportunity to drill on this scenario. Squad 5 was taken to a member's residence off of Gerards Cove Road in Abell were a few scenarios were to be set up. Utilizing our Immersion Suits, crew members were able to simulate a patient in the water while maintaining the safety parameters of the drill. The first drill was designed for patient removal using just a stokes basket and man power, while the second was to use a Z-Rig with a 24 foot ladder and several sections of rescue rope. Both scenarios were played out a couple times and members came away from the drill with much learned about what we could implement in future incidents.
