| During Monday night drills at the end of September, members headed to Mechanicsville to take part in rural water supply drills. The drills were set up to familiarize the members of both departments each others operations and to enhance our skills when conducting rural water supply during an incident. On Monday September 23rd crews started with looking over apparatus including Water Supply 5 and Engine 21. These are the two units the departments will use in a water supply operations. Once members looked over the apparatus we went to the Golden Beach Road commuter lot and set up a fill and dump site. Two portable tanks were used as well as the jet siphon to transfer water between the tanks. Crews discussed the responsibilities of Dump Site and Fill Site supervisors as well as the Water Supply Officer. On Monday, September 30th crews worked at the pond off of Commerce Park Rd. Water Supply 5 established the draft site and tankers made multiple shuttles to Engine 23 which was flowing its deck pipe. Members learned many new techniques and enhanced their skills in rural water supply. This was a great opportunity for the department to work together and we look forward to future training.
