On Tuesday morning at 0339 hours, Stations 5, 1, 2, 7, 59 and 19 were alerted to a report house fire on Windy Lane in Colton's Point. Units were advised the caller had smoke inside the house possibly from the crawlspace.

Chief 5 arrived on the scene locating a two story wood framed house with nothing showing on Side A. After further investigation and contacting the homeowner, a fire was located burning in the crawlspace with moderate smoke conditions inside the home. Chief 5 established the Colton Point Command.

Engine 54 arrived on the scene and dropped a line at Windy Lane and Colton Point Road. The crew pulled the attack line to Side B of the house at the crawlspace access. The engine crew knocked the fire at the access while Engine 51's crew pulled a second line to the interior.

After further investigation fire was discovered in the walls under and around the fireplace. Crews from Engine 14, 24 and Truck 1 assisted in opening up the walls and extinguishing the remaining fire. Engine 74 was held for a short time at the scene.

Ambulance 599 checked out one occupant of the home and obtained a signed refusal. Units operated on the scene for approximately 90 minutes before returning to service.
