Tuesday afternoon just after 1300 hours, Boat 5 was alerted mutual aid to Mechanicsville for a brush fire. Units from Company 2 arrived on scene and made quick work of a brush fire, however some of the fire had made its way down a steep embankment off of the Patuxent River and was not accessible. Boat 5 launched from Cape St. Mary's in Sandgates and arrived at the scene a short time later. Boat 5 utilized the deluge gun to extinguish all of the areas that were inaccessible. After all of the hot spots were out, units were placed in service by Chief 2. Crews operated for just over an hour on the incident.
