By Fire Chief J.A. Nelson
July 15, 2014

At 0232 hours, Stations 1, 2, 5, 7, 9 and EMS 19 and 29 were alerted to Colton Point Road in the area of Alvey Lane for a report house fire. Units responded and were advised of a possible house fire that appeared to have been burning for an extended period of time. Chief 5A arrived a short time later locating a 50' X 100' barn fully involved.

Engine 24 followed by Engine 10 and 52 arrived on the scene shortly after Chief 5A. Engine 10 dropped a 4" line to the barn and was supplied by Engine 24. Engine 52 proceeded to the scene and was supplied by Engine 10. Engine 10 and Engine 52 both pulled hand lines to the scene. Chief 5 established the command at the scene.

Crews from Engine 74, Engine 72, Engine 93, and Engine 11 came back to the scene with hooks to assist while the tankers were utilized in the tanker shuttle. Water Supply 5 set up a fill site at the Grandview Haven housing complex.

Once the fire was brought under control, units continued hitting hot spots and conducting overhaul operations for an extended period of time. The State Fire Marshal's Office was requested to investigate the fire. All units cleared the scene by 0415 hours.
