On Friday evening just before 1700 hours, Company 5, Squad 1 and EMS Companies 59, 19 and 29 were alerted to the area of Oakley Road and Cobrums Wharf Road for the reported serious motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Chief 5 responded just after dispatch and was the first to arrive advising of a two vehicle head on collision blocking the roadway. Chief 5 advised there were six total patients and established the command. Chief 5 was able to advise that there was no entrapment and placed Squad 1 in service. Squad 5 arrived on scene a short time later and began securing the vehicles and patient care. Engine 52 arrived next and assisted the Squad crew with the vehicles and their assignments. Ambulances 598, 197 and 297 all responded and had transports to SMH. Four total patients were transported and other refusals were obtained. Units operated for just over thirty minutes before returning to service.
