Hazardous Materials Investigation In Clements

On Tuesday afternoon, Stations 5, 59 and Hazmat 18 were alerted to a suspected hazardous materials incident on Victory Lane in Clements. Units were advised the occupants had received a package in the mail which had a white power material inside. Units from Companies 5, 1 and 59 responded to the scene along with members of the county hazmat team.

Information was obtained from the occupant and it was determined the package had been in the residence for a couple days. There were no indications of illness to any of the occupants. Hazmat crews conducted an entry into the house and were able to collect a sample of the material. Tests of the samples were conducted, which all returned negative. The material turned out to be powder utilized in the packaging process of the product.

Crews operated at the scene for approximately two hours before returning to quarters.
