During the weekend of October 4th and 5th the 47th Annual Blessing of the Fleet was held on the grounds at the St. Clement's Island Museum in Colton's Point.

On Saturday the great weather brought crowds of people to see the vendors, take a tour of St. Clement's Island and watch the great fireworks show at the end of the night. A fire prevention booth was set up with games for the children to play. Members of the department and auxiliary manned the booth providing fire prevention literature and fire safety tips to the community. Several hundred visitors stopped by the booth to talk with our volunteers.

On Sunday the day started out with a flag ceremony and then the annual parade. Marching bands from the high schools, politicians, and local businesses took part in the parade. Several pieces of apparatus also went through the parade route and received a warm welcome from the crowd. A mass was held on St. Clements Island in the afternoon.

Boat 5 stood by during the event and staged at the state pier in front of the museum. The weekends events included several bands, shows and demonstrations. We hope everyone enjoyed the event and look forward to next year. We thank everyone who stopped by to see us at the fire prevention booth.
