Sunday morning at 0922 hours, Stations 5, 2, 1, Charles 14, 59 and 29 were alerted to a reported house fire on Mill Point Road in Chaptico. Chief 5 and Engine 52 responded a short time after dispatch. Fireboard advised the caller had smoke inside the house.

Chief 5 arrived on the scene and found a single story residence with smoke showing and established the Mill Point Command. Engine 52 dropped a supply line prior to the residence and then pulled an attack line to the interior of the house. There was moderate smoke conditions, but no fire visible upon entry into the house. Engine 51 picked up Engine 52's supply line and the crew pulled a backup line and assisted with opening up the walls and ceiling to locate the fire.

Additional crews from Engine 24 and Truck 1 assisted at the scene. Interior crews located a fire in the walls of the house burning around a chimney. The fire traveled up the walls and to the attic before being extinguished. Squad 5 set up RIT in the front yard of the residence. All other units were placed in staging on Maddox Road.

Engine 14 and the crew from Squad 2 were called back to the scene to assist with chaining the chimney which also had active fire inside. Water Supply 5 set up a draft site at a pond on Maddox Road but were not needed and proceeded to the scene.

Once the fire was extinguished and it was confirmed there was no further extension, the assignment was held with Company 5 units only. Crews operated on the scene for approximately 2 hours before returning to quarters.
