Units Respond to House Fire in Leonardtown

Wednesday morning at 1005 hours Company 5 was alerted mutual aid for a reported house on fire On Breton Beach Road in Leonardtown. Engine 52, Tanker 5 and Water Supply 5 all made the response to the scene. As units were responding fireboard advised that calls were being taken with reports of fire through the roof of the residence. Chief 7 was first arriving advising of a single story residence, with heavy fire showing through the roof with a roof collapse.

Engine 91 was first arriving engine and extended two lines into the residence and began an attack on the fire. At that time all other units with the exception of Truck 1, were to stage on Breton Beach Road and send the man power to the scene. Engine 52 arrived shortly after and was assigned to R.I.T along with Engine 63. Water Supply 5 set up at a nearby pond for the tanker shuttle and Tanker 5 proceeded to the scene. The R.I.T established means of egress from all four sides and began assisting on the exterior.

After approximately 15 minutes the crew from Engine 52 was relieved from R.I.T and assigned to assist on Division 1 along with Engine 93. The engine crew began opening up on the inside for that attack lines and assisting the other units on the interior. After that point crews assisted for over two hours with overhaul and extinguishment. Units began breaking down and returning to service right around 1300 hours.
