At 2135 hours, Stations 5, 1, 2, 7, Truck 1, EMS Stations 59 and 19 were alerted to a reported house fire on Bushwood Wharf Road in Bushwood. Units were advised the caller had fire coming from the top of the wood stove and spreading to the house. Chief 5 and Engine 52 arrived on the scene locating a single story house with smoke from the chimney. Chief 5 established the command. Command requested the Tanker and Truck to the scene and had all other units stage in the Capt. Sams parking lot.

The crew from Engine 52 pulled a line to the house locating smoke inside. After further investigation the flu pipe to the wood stove was found backed up. The blower fan above the stove was on fire and there was an active fire in the chimney. Crews removed the pipe and fan and used an extinguisher to put out the fire in the chimney.

Engine 51 operated on the roof while Truck 1 assisted with opening up around the chimney. Water Supply 5 set up at the fill site at Company 5. After no further extension was found, command held the assignment with Companies 5 and 1. Crews set up a fan to ventilate the house prior to going in service.

All units were back in quarters within a hour.
