On Wednesday evening at 1943 hours Companies 5, 1 and 59 were alerted to Collins Road in Avenue for the reported chimney fire. Engine 52 responded shortly after dispatch with a crew of four, followed by Engine 51 with a crew of three. Engine 52 arrived to find a two story residence with nothing evident and proceeded to investigate the interior, confirming a working chimney fire. Chief 5A arrived on scene and established the command. Engine 51 arrived next and began making access to the roof and assisting the crew from Engine 52. Truck 1 was directed to the scene, while all other units staged on Hatchet Thicket Road. Truck 1's crew was able to access the roof and with assistance from Engine 51 began chaining the chimney. Squad 5 also proceeded to the scene and Engine 14 was placed in service. Engine 52 crew members were able to confirm that there was no extension beyond the chimney after checking with the thermal imager. With this information Chief 5A terminated the command and all units went in service once ready.
