Company Assists On Leonardtown House Fire

At 1016 hours, just as Water Supply 5 was pulling back into the station from a house fire assignment another reported house fire was dispatched on St. Margarets Drive in Leonardtown. Stations 1, 7, 9, 6, Water Supply 5 and EMS 19 and 79 were alerted to the call. Water Supply 5 responded with 4 volunteers. Communications reported the caller had a sofa on fire inside the house.

Numerous units were already in the area clearing the last house fire assignment and arrived on the scene simultaneously. Arriving units found a single story home with fire showing from Side "Charlie" of the house. Chief 1 established the command. Water Supply 5 was directed to go to Heritage Drive near the scene and set up on a hydrant. Bay District picked up the water supply prior to their and Water Supply 5's crew proceeded to the scene.

The crew from the Water Supply initially was assigned to RIT and then operated inside the structure and assisted with extinguishing the fire and pulling ceilings. Once the fire was placed under control, crews assisted with extensive overhaul and mop up before being placed in service. Water Supply 5 assisted for just over 2 hours before securing. Engine 51 handled a fill in at Station 1 during the incident. All units returned to quarters at 1338 hours.
