On Monday evening, Stations 5, 1, 2 and 59 were alerted to a shed fire on Owens Road in Longview Beach. Engine 52, 51, Tanker 5, Water Supply 5, Brush 5 and Command 5 responded with 21 Volunteers. Engine 52 and Chief 5 arrived to find a brush fire that extended to a debris pile, two boats and a vacant structure. Engine 52 dropped a 3" supply line from Longview Blvd that was picked up by Engine 51. Crews pulled an attack line to the fire and checked the vacant house for further extension. Units from Company 2 and 1 were held in staging on Maddox Road for a short period and then placed in service. Forestry was notified after the fire was determined to have been caused by a burn barrel getting out of control. Units operated on the scene for approximately an hour before returning to quarters.
