On Thursday afternoon crews from Stations 5, 2, 7 and 59 were on hand for an annual swim across the Potomac River to St. Clement's Island. The swim is completed by a group of 11th grade students from The Heights School in Potomac, Maryland. This tradition is a right of passage for the students to become seniors.

In all, 48 swimmers took to the water to make the swim which is just under a mile long. They complete this after biking to Colton's Point from Cobb Island. After the swim the students camp out on the island for the night.

Just under 40 swimmers made the entire swim this year. Boat 5 along with Raft 22 and Raft 7 were on hand to provide assistance to the swimmers that weren't able to complete the swim.

All units returned to quarters by 1600 hours.
