On Monday afternoon at 1324 hours, Station 5, Squad 5. Squad 1, EMS 59, 19 and ALS were alerted to a serious motor vehicle accident on Colton Point Road in the area of Capt. Sams Store. Units were advised a dump truck overturned with one person trapped. Chief 5A arrived on the scene and located a single dump truck on its side with no entrapment. Chief 5A requested a helicopter for the single patient involved.

Squad 5 arrived on the scene and secured the vehicle and assisted with patient care. Medic 5 and Ambulance 198 handled the EMS care prior to the arrival of Trooper 7. The dump truck lost its entire load of asphalt on and next to the roadway. State Highway responded to the scene to assist.

Squad 1's crew arrived and assisted with securing the fluid leaks on the vehicle. Trooper 7 landed in the open field next to the accident scene and flew the patient to Prince George's Trauma Center. Engine 11 also responded to the scene to assist at the landing site.

Once the Trooper departed the scene crews finished securing the vehicle and the fluids and returned to service. Units operated for just under an hour before returning to quarters.
