On Tuesday morning just before 9 am, Companies 5, 2, 1 and Charles Co. 14 were alerted to 35911 Washington Ave, in the Mill Point Shores sub division for a reported house fire. Chief 5A arrived on location first and found a single story residence with light smoke showing from the chimney area. Engine 51 was the next to arrive and the crew stretched an attack line into the home. Engine 24 was next arriving, laying into Engine 51 from Bay Drive and assisting the attack crew. Engine 51's crew located a small fire that was contained to the furnace.

Crews checked for extension around the furnace and cleared the attic space before placing the remainder of the assignment in service. Engine 51 remained on the scene for a short time assisting the home owner with securing the furnace system. With the weather cooling down every one is reminded to remain safe and have you chimneys cleaned and furnace system maintenanced properly.
