At 0041 hours on Monday morning, Station 5 was alerted to a fire reported out on Oakley Road in Avenue. Engine 52 and Tanker 5 responded and upon arrival located a single story house with smoke showing. The engine crew pulled an attack line to the residence investigated a fire in the kitchen. The occupant had knocked the fire with an extinguisher. The power to the stove was secured and the walls were opened up to check for further extension. Ambulance 598 responded to check out the occupants of the house. Once no further extension was found the engine crew ventilated the house before returning to quarters. All units were back in quarters within an hour.
