During the week of June 19th the annual Maryland State Firemen's Association Convention was held in Ocean City. During this years convention, our Auxiliary President Barbara Nelson was sworn in as the Maryland State Firemen's Association Ladies Auxiliary President. The week of events included training seminars, meetings, awards ceremonies, installation of officers and the parade among many other events.

The installation ceremony was held Tuesday evening at the convention center. The officers of the Association and the Ladies Auxiliary were sworn in during a joint event. Numerous members of the department and auxiliary traveled to Ocean City to participate in the installation. The event was also attended by Governor Larry Hogan.

On Wednesday morning the parade was held. Members brought Engine 52, Tanker 5, Brush 5 and Command 5 to the parade. Three of the 4 pieces of apparatus won trophies.

Our fire prevention committee submitted their annual fire prevention scrap book. This year the book won first place in its class along with fifth overall in the state. The department also received a grant through the Maryland State Fire Marshals Office to receive 48 10 year smoke alarms to use for homes in our response area.

We would like to congratulate all of the new officers and look forward to working with them during this year. Check out www.msfa.org for more information on the convention
