Early Saturday morning at 0243 hours, Companies 5, 59 and 19 were alerted for a single vehicle accident with injuries. Squad 5 responded with 5 volunteers and due to the accident occurring just in front of our quarters was on scene within moments. A single vehicle was located that had run off the roadway colliding with a tree causing heavy front end damage to the vehicle. Chief 5A next arrived along with Paramedic Ambulance 598 and after a quick patient assessment a helicopter transport to a trauma center was requested.

The squad crew assisted EMS with patient removal and loading. They then remained on scene and continued to stabilize the vehicle and to secure the scene, while Engine 52 responded to Holy Angels Church to set up a landing site. Trooper 7 landed minutes later and transported the patient to Prince Georges Trauma Center for further evaluation. The scene was turned over to the St. Marys County Sheriffs Office.
