Single Vehicle Accident With Entrapment and Flyout

Early Sunday morning at 1235 hours, Station 5, Squad 5, Squad 2, EMS 59, 19 and ALS were alerted to a motor vehicle accident on Colton Point Road in the area of Abell Road. Initial reports were of a single vehicle accident with CPR in progress. Chief 5A along with Captain 5 located the vehicle on Colton Point Road just prior to the northern entrance of Oakley Road. The patient was trapped in the vehicle but was breathing.

Squad 5 along with Chief 5 and Chief 5B arrived on the scene and began extrication. The roof of the vehicle was removed and the driver's side front and rear doors were removed. Upon arrival of Squad 2 the crew assisted with the extrication at the scene. The patient was removed from the vehicle and loaded into Ambulance 197. Medic 3 and Ambulance 598 assisted with EMS care.

Engine 51 handled the landing site for Trooper 7 at 7th District Park. Ambulance 197 transported the patient to the landing site. The patient was flown to MedStar Washington. Squad 5 remained on the scene for approximately two hours assisting the Sheriff's Office.

All units returned to quarters at 0240 hours.
