On Thursday afternoon crews from Stations 5, 2, 6 and 59 were on hand for the annual swim across the Potomac River to St. Clement's Island. The swim is done by a group of 11th grade students from The Heights School in Potomac, Maryland. This tradition is a right of passage for the students to become seniors.

Over 50 swimmers took to the water to make the swim which is just under a mile long. They complete this after biking to Colton's Point from Cobb Island. After the swim the students camp out at Take it Easy Campgrounds.

Many of the swimmers made it to the Island. Boat 5 along with Raft 2 and Boat 6 were on hand to provide assistance to the ones that weren't able to complete the swim.

All units returned to quarters by 1600 hours.
