Company 5 Responds Mutual Aid for Barn Fire

Thursday night at 2206 hours, Company 5 was alerted mutual aid to Mechanicsville for the reported working barn fire off of Foley Mattingly Road in Helen. Engine 52 responded with 5 volunteers along with the Water Supply unit. Upon arrival units from Mechanicsville VFD located a large one and a half story barn, fully involved with fire. Engine 52 arrived and began assisting prior arriving units with fire attack and overhaul efforts.

Water Supply 5 set up at a pond near the fire scene and provided constant water for approximately 3 hours. And due to winds that evening causing an issue Brush 5 also was requested to the scene to assist with brush fires occurring nearby from the fires embers. All units operated for just over 3 hours before returning to service early Saturday morning.
