Two Rescued From Wicomico River

In the early morning hours on Sunday, Station 5, Boat 5, Squad 5, Charles Boat 6 and EMS Station 59 were alerted to a subject in the water yelling for help off Bushwood Wharf. Chief 5 arrived on the scene and confirmed a subject was in the water yelling approximately 400 yards off shore. Boat 5 launched and the crew responded to the area. Upon arrival Boat 5 located two subjects clinging to an overturned canoe.

The crew from Boat 5 pulled both subjects onto Boat 5. The canoe was also removed from the water. Boat subjects were brought to Bushwood Wharf and turned over to awaiting EMS. One subject signed a refusal and the other was transported by Ambulance 599 to MedStar St. Mary's. Maryland Natural Resources Police were contact and are investigating the incident. All units cleared the scene within an hour.
