During our awards banquet on Saturday December 3rd, the Squad Committee proudly placed Squad 5 in service. The Squad is a 2007 American LaFrance/Murray formerly Squad 3 of Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department. We purchased the squad at the end of 2021. It came to the station for a few weeks and then headed to the paint shop. The rehab to the unit included the following:

-Full Paint to include cab and body
-All new emergency lighting
-Convert from Hurst to Amkus compatible hydraulic reels
-New lettering and graphics
-Adding county radios and portables
-Many other tools and mounting changes

Squad 5 replaced out 1986 Freightliner/Saulsbury walk in rescue. That unit had previously served Odessa, DE. Purchasing both these units have allowed our department so safe significant funds for other apparatus purchases. Squad 5 will be utilized on a variety of incidents to include motor vehicle accidents, structure fires, water rescues, gas leaks and many other incident types.
