Multiple Crews Respond To Colton's Point House Fire

Friday night at 8:05 p.m., Stations 5, 1, 2, 7, 6, 3 and 9 along with EMS stations 59 and 29 were alerted to a house fire on Beach Road in Colton's Point. Initial indications were from the police who arrived for a police incident and reported there was a fire in the home. Engine 52 (Chief 5B) arrived on scene and located a two-story home with heavy fire throughout the structure. Police had an individual with a laceration that was taken to awaiting EMS and then transported by ground to Capital Regional Medical Center.

Engine 52 laid a supply line from the corner of Charles Hall Road and Beach Road with Tanker 5 picking up the line. Engine 52 deployed a 2.5" and a 1.75" line on the initial attack. Engine 51s crew assisted with pulling an additional line. Chief 5A arrived on scene and established the command and requested two Fire Boats be added to the call. Truck 1, Tanker 14 and Engine 23 were next arriving with the crew pulling one additional line from Engine 52. In total Engine 52 operated three 1.75" lines and a 2.5" line to extinguish the fire.

Approximately 2,700 feet of supply line was laid from Charles Hall Road to the State Pier at Colton's Point where the water supply was established. Engine 23 and Tanker 74 were utilized in this relay and Engine 73 was the draft pumper. A supply line was also ran to the pier in front of the home and supplied by Boat 6 and then Boat 4. Truck 7 placed the ladder pipe in service for a short time to extinguish some areas along the roof line.

Crews operated for approximately 45 minutes before bringing the fire under control. All crews then work to hit hot spots and conduct overhaul for and additional hour and a half. The State Fire Marshals Office was requested to the scene to investigate the incident. Additional information will be available through their office.
