Wednesday at 4:55 p.m., Station 5 and surrounding Companies were alerted to a house fire on Chickahominy Road in Bushwood. Lieutenant 1 who was in the area arrived on the scene with working fire on the second floor. Chief 5 then arrived on scene and established command.

Engine 52 laid a line from a split in the driveway and upon arrival stretched an attack line to the second floor. 52's crew quickly knocked the fire and started opening up to check for extension. Tanker 5 came to the scene as a nurse tanker and Engine/Tanker 54 picked up Engine 52's line. Engine/Tanker 54 secured the utilities and assisted with opening up. Truck 1 conducted a primary search with negative results.

Crews completed opening up the second floor and confirmed the fire was contained to the room of origin. The assigned was then held with Companies 5, 1, 2, and 7. A short time later it was scaled back to Company 5 only. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. Red Cross was requested to assist the family.
