On Monday evening at 1744 hours Stations 2, 42, 7, 45, EMS 29, Truck 7 and Water Supply 5 were alerted to a house fire on Old Village Road in Mechanicsville. Units from Company 2 arrived on the scene and located heavy fire conditions.

Crews went to work extinguishing the fire that spread to all three floors of the residence. Water Supply 5 responded to Station 2 to set up draft but later moved to Persimmon Hills for better water supply.

Engine 51 was headed to Company 2 for a transfer when command requested two additional engine companies and a special service. Engine 51 was diverted to the scene and sent to division 3 upon arrival to continue hitting flare ups and for overhaul.

Engine 51 worked for about an hour inside the structure. Engine 51 supplied a tank of water to the scene before going in service.
