The Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for new members to join our organization. Volunteers have the opportunity to take part in many day to day activities some of which include responding to emergency calls, extinguishing fires,  providing medical care, giving demonstrations to school children and taking part in many other events and functions.  Anyone age 16 or older may apply.

What are some of the benefits of becoming a volunteer?

Free Training
You will receive free firefighting, rescue, and EMS training through the University of Maryland's Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute (MFRI). These courses count towards college credits through the state of Maryland. There are also many opportunities for free training within the department.

State Tax Break
Members are eligible to receive a $6,500 Maryland state tax break for being a volunteer.

Through our Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP), you can receive retirement benefits from St. Mary's County after the age of 55.
