| On Sunday afternoon at 1342 hours, Stations 5, 2, 1 and 59 were alerted to a barn fire on Danny's Lane in Maddox. As units were responding additional calls were received of possible expolsions. Chief 5 requested two additional tankers be added to the assignment bringing Company 7 and Charles Company 2
Chief 5 arrived on the scene with a large barn fully involved and established the Maddox Command. Engine 54 dropped a 5" line at Maud M Chesley Way and proceeded to the scene. The crew stretched two attack lines to protect exposures and knock the fire. Engine 51 picked up 54's line and supplied the scene. Chief 5A held operations while Captain 7 conducted a manpower pool.
Water Supply 5 set up a draft site at Chaptico Wharf and a tanker shuttle was conducted utilizing Tanker 5, Engine 24, 14, 74, and Charles Tanker 2. The crews from all units operated on the scene conducting extensive mop up and overhaul to extinguish the fire for approximately 2 hours.
The fire was determined to have started from a lightning strike from heavy storms that were coming through the area. As units were wrapping up at this scene a garage fire was dispatched on Chasko Road. Multiple units cleared the scene and responded on that call. See additional story.
