| On Sunday afternoon as crews were wrapping up at the barn fire in Maddox, Chief 5 was advised by Fireboard that they were dispatching a working garage fire on Chasko Road in Abell. Engine 72 was filling in at Station 5 and responded at dispatch. Chief 5 along with several other units cleared the barn fire and responded to the scene.
While responding to this fire, Chief 5 was advised of an additional working house fire on Grampton Road. Chief 5 sent Engine 93, 11 and 51 to the scene of this fire. Engine 51 arrived and located a lighting strike to a propane line on the rear of the residence. The owner had extinguished the fire prior to the arrival of fire apparatus and all units started back to Abell.
Engine 72 went on the scene at Chasko Road with a garage fully involved with exposure to a house. Chief 5 was next arriving and assumed the Abell Command. Engine 14, 24 and 74 arrived supplying Engine 72 with water and sending their crews to the scene. Water Supply arrived and was able to draft from the nearby creek and supplied the scene with a constant water supply.
Engine 51, Squad 5 and Tanker 5 came to the scene from the previous fire. Crews from Trucks 1 and 7 also arrived and assisted with extinguishing the fire. The fire was contained within 30 minutes and extensive overhaul had to be conducted inside the garage.
This fire was also determined to be from a lightning strike from a storm in the area. Engine 93 handled a tree fire on River Springs Road during the incident.
