At 0938 hours Sunday, Stations 5, 1, 2, 7, 9 and 6 along with EMS Stations 59 and 19 were alerted to a working house fire on Dickerson Road in Abell. Chief 5 arrived and located a single story home with fire showing from the Alpha and Delta sides. Chief 5 established the "Abell Command." All occupants were confirmed to be out of the house and not injured.
The Officers and Members of the Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department regret to announce the passing of Life Member, Leon Zimmerman. Leon had over 45 years of active service with the department and over 50 total years as a member. At 1230 hours on December 9, 2022, Squad 5 was dispatched to assist Mechanicsville VFD on Budds Creek Road at Mechanicsville Road for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Units from Station 2 arrived and located multiple patients trapped in two vehicles. Personnel from Squad 5 assisted with the extrication. At 1430 hours on December 5, 2022 Station 5 was alerted to a outside fire on Abell Road in the area of Canoe Neck Way. Tanker 5 arrived on the scene with an 8x8 shed involved in fire with extension to another building. Brush 5 and Tanker 51 also responded to the scene.
