On Monday, the department responded to three accidents with reported entrapment throughout the day. The first was at 0739 hours involving a vehicle vs a school bus. A door pop was required on the vehicle to remove the patient. There were no injuries on the bus.

Over the weekend Firefighter Mason Allen participated in the Skills USA Firefighting Competition at Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department. The participants took part in a written exam, oral interview, rope drill, 2 minute drill (fastest dressed) and a simulated CPAT test. Saturday at 1757 hours, Stations 5 and surrounding companies were alerted to a structure fire on Mill Creek Drive in Bushwood. Engine 52 arrived with nothing evident and upon investigation located an active chimney fire.
Once crews ensured the attic was clear and there was no fire spread, the assignment was held with Company 5. Crews chained the chimney and cleared the wood stove.
On Friday afternoon, members welcomed Engine-Tanker 54 to the station as it arrived from Custom Fire Apparatus in Wisconsin. Earlier this week five members of our apparatus committee traveled to the factory to conduct the final inspection. The Engine-Tanker was built over the last couple month to meet the specifications of the committee.

On Wednesday evening UTV 5 was alerted to a large woods fire on Slater Drive In Waldorf. UTV 5 operated for approximately an hour and a half on scene with units from across Southern Maryland controlling the fire. UTV 5 was part of the brush fire task force.
On Monday at 2214 hours, Stations 5 and 1 were alerted to a large brush fire on Abell Road. Multiple units responded and upon arrival located a large fire in the woods behind the dispatched address. Once crews were able to get an assessment on the fire, it was determined approximately 5 acres was burning in the heavily wooded area.
